I contemplated for a while if I should write this post.
As a creative person, sometimes I’m overwhelmed with interests! However, I feel compelled to share this amazing world of bullet journaling with anyone that will look or listen!
I think stationary in general is my second love. I know, I know. It sounds crazy, but hear me out. There’s something about a beautifully designed notebook with an inspiring cover, sewn binding or metal ring coils or the thickness or gsm of pages that are folded into it. There’s something to the process about it all. I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you the intricate details of how my mind thinks about this stuff and tell you how I started bullet journaling.
In 2020 when the world closed, I found bullet journaling. I don’t know how I stumbled on it exactly, but when I did my mind was blown. It was the perfect combination of everything I had been looking for to get me organized as a mom, a wife, a youtuber, and a creative person.
I have to admit bullet journaling can be intimidating at first, but the beauty of it is – there are no rules. You can design it as detailed as you want or as simple as you would like. It is totally up to you. For instance, I played around with mood trackers and habit trackers, but those don’t work for me, so I don’t include them. A perfect example is what I did for my January Bujo spread. If you prefer to watch, you can view the process here on my YouTube channel. There are a lot of minimalist inspired bujos out there too.
Drawing semi-intimidated me when I first started bullet journaling. I used to think each and every page had to be this elaborate and extremely designed production, but it doesn’t. One page can literally be just a title. Another can be a space for you to just write notes. You don’t have to know how to draw to bullet journal.
I usually go to Pinterest or Instagram for spread inspiration and the top bujo accounts are extremely talented artistically. My art skills are beginner to intermediate. But I found a happy medium that allows me to feel like my bujo is really intricate. The designs I choose to copy or create don’t take too long, but look like they did!
For my March 2022 bullet journal setup, I used lots of curvy lines and 4 highlighter colors. It looks way more intricate than it really is! I love looking at the colors. I used different spreads this month to continue to get a feel for which spreads work the best for me. I’m also trying to incorporate more meal planning this year, which is one of my mom struggles!
You can see I mainly used straight lines to create the weekly schedule. For this slanted one, I used a ruler.
Also when you mess up you can also use some tape or glue and cover up any areas that you weren’t happy with! I’ve been learning that everyone does it even the best of the bullet journalers out there!
I hope you enjoyed this article.
