I have been meaning to sew every few days for the past I don’t know, forever, but never find make the time to do it. One day I decided that I would really put my mind to it and JUST FREAKING DO IT. That’s one of the hardest things with me, literally just getting around to do things I want to do. I plan and plan and think and think, but never really execute the things I’m supposed to do to make sure I make my goals. I frustrate my own self because these are the things that I really wanna do! When I finally prepared myself and set the actionable goals to do it, this was the outcome. I went to Joann’s and scooped up some patterns that were on sale and got to work!
Cynthia Rowley has some really good designs. On the outside of the pattern the inspiration is really fun and exciting, but when you start sewing, it doesn’t ALWAYS turn out this good. This time around, I think my selection was really simple, generally a easy pattern to follow, although I made a few of my own modifications, but I was really proud of myself for doing a decent job having not sewn any clothing for some time.
Not sure if you can tell by just glancing at the pattern in comparison to the shirt I completed, but I chose option B. I ended up modifying the sleeves. Instead of tapering the sleeves, I cut them into short sleeves, pressing and sewing down the edges giving it more dimensions and volume. I paired it with a belt to give my shirt a cinch waist look.
This is the 8124 Simplicity Cynthia Rowley pattern review.
This look is:
DIY (yes, finally)
trendy
stylish
adorable
& different
P.s. – How to look more curvy-I’m not extremely curvy, although I wish I was! By wearing a peplum style top, this helps to accentuate your curves by creating more of the hourglass illusion.
