A month ago, I uploaded my DIY Dining Room Re-makeover on my YouTube channel. It’s already gotten over 65,000 views which to me, is great! I love coming up with creative DIY solutions that everyone can use to makeover over their own spaces. If you’d like to watch the video, click below, but if you’d like to read about this transformation, scroll down.
If you’re new around here, let me introduce myself. My name is Niky and I created this website and blog to showcase all my DIY projects. My YouTube channel houses all of my DIY creations, but after I received so many questions on certain projects, I created this website as a follow up to my YouTube videos! I hope this helps you with your DIY journey and creative passions.
When we first moved into this house, the dining room was sad and beige and boring. Just like every.single.wall in this house, it was beige and I needed to paint it just to break up the monotony especially in the one location I spend most my time. The dining room/kitchen (they’re connected pretty much.)
When we first moved in, it looked like this:
The 1st dining room transformation:
I painted the wall Antigua, you can take a look at the first transformation here.
For the dining room re-makeover, I painted it Polar Bear. This paint color is amazing. It works in every room. I’ve painted a lot of rooms in my house this colors so I knew I couldn’t go wrong with this choice, plus, the kitchen is Polar Bear and now I want both spaces to match.
Here is what the process of painting looked like: Getting up on a high ladder to paint the bulk head and high ceiling areas.
This is what the dining room looked like after it was all painted. The color is Polar Bear by Behr paint.
After my 1st dining room transformation, I partnered with Cricut and from there my Cricut supplies grew and they all needed a home. I live in a 3 bedroom townhouse, so I don’t have an overabundance of space nor do I have a craft room or office. This is where the Dreambox comes in.
The Dreambox is a life saver. It is the perfect organization cabinet that can store A TON. I am a Cricut influencer so I’m gifted A LOT of product. It was able to hold majority of my items except a few rolls of Smart Vinyl. I talk about the Dreambox a lot on my Instagram – 1, because I’m proud of it, 2, because I truly do love it and if there is a community that wants to talk organization, that is my love language and 3, because it fits in my narrow dining room and if there is anyone else out that that is like me – living in an average size American home, into crafting and needs the perfect organization solution – I’m your example.
Everything was sorted into boxes before. I felt unorganized, unproductive and cluttered.
So now all of the crafting and diy items live in the Dreambox. And if you need this, check out this link here. You can use my code: NIKYFOSTER100 for $100 off.
Another amazing piece of furniture in my dining room is this sideboard. I picked it up from FB Marketplace for $45. It’s a combination of wood and laminate. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that initially. When I first painted it, I didn’t use the correct primer, so the top started peeling. I created a separate video for how to paint laminate furniture and it turned out amazing. You can catch that video here.
I changed the knobs and hardware on the piece and it looks amazing.
Previously, this wall was painted Antigua and had no art on it. I curated it with a black and white family photos to create this gallery wall. The museum lights are probably one of my favorite features in this new space. They’re battery operated and looks high end. It’s styled for the holidays here with faux greenery.
Once I painted the dining room white, it needed some contrast. I painted the Fireplace black and now it adds a pop of color to the space. The two wireless sconces and updated artwork brings the whole room together.
The DIY mirror is probably one of my favorite DIY projects ever. It was easy to do, no mess and really looks high end after it was completed. The dining room really came together after changing some things around, opening up the space with the new paint and of course a mirror allows light to bounce and makes the space feel bigger. This space is narrow, so a mirror was a must for me.
Showing the Dreambox in the back corner of my dining room. When its open its a crafting haven! And when its closed, it looks like a cabinet.
