After I designed my kids/guest bathroom and it took off on YouTube, I knew so many people would be inspired to see my master bathroom makeover as well!
I loved the idea of a tiled half wall and wanted to play around with this layout. I took inspiration from Pinterest (of course) strolling over these million dollar homes and expensive bathroom renovations. The price point was out of budget, but the skills to put these designs to the test were not!
My YouTube subscribers lit the fire under me! Their comments on my DIY Bathroom Makeover Under $300 video were so positive, encouraging and they pushed me toward my goal of renovating my master bathroom in the $500 budget range.
This is essentially what you get when you have a builder grade bathroom.
The paint on the walls are generic color.
Vinyl flooring that looks like fake tile, but it is not tile. This vinyl flooring is one full piece of material. And it matches the walls. (Yuck.)
Oak cabinets. I actually added the handles on the oak cabinets before I started this master bathroom update. Normally the cabinets come plain without handles.

The below is what you get when you upgrade your builder grade bathroom! This is a makeover that does not require any major renovating.
I had been planning on updating my builder grade master bathroom, but never could find the time. Fortunately I had been using Pinterest for months so I already had a board that inspired this bathroom update.
I love using Behr paint because I can go to the Home Depot counter in any town and always get the right color. I do not paint match EVER, but thats another story for another time!
For this master bathroom makeover, I wanted the bathroom to feel bright, but I also wanted to have this wow factor and step out of my comfort zone. By painting the whole bathroom from this boring beige to a crisp white with a black accent wall, the bathroom was transformed!
Being a DIYer, a wife and mom of two young children (6 yrs. and 2 yrs.), I don’t always have the time to renovate every nook and cranny of my home. To satisfy my DIY crave and yearning to update things in a timely manner, I opt for easy, but elegant.
That’s why I chose to go with Peel and Stick Floor Tiles. I LOVED the hexagon floor tiles ever since seeing Joanna Gaines bathroom makeover on a Fixer Upper episode. I also noticed how the shape added a subtle contrast from the straight subway tiles.
For the peel and stick floor tiles I did not use grout in my master bathroom as I wanted to test them out to see if they will last!
Creating a L-shaped tile wall brought this master bathroom to another level. The tiles add texture, dimension and brightness to the bathroom that looked really dull before.
I added a shower curtain, a frame from the thrift shop, new light fixtures and I reused the glass jars that I already had.
There is so much that went into this bathroom layout and design! Watch this video and be inspired to upgrade your home!
Double Hook Shower Curtain Rings
Matte Black Shower Curtain Rod
Vintage Bathroom Light Fixture
Luxury Vinyl Tiles (I used these for the master bathroom)
12×24 Marble Floor Tile (I used these for the kids/guest bathroom)
